Some of the final tasks I completed before leaving Citta Property Group in March 2017, were the approvals, contract formation and construction planning for the demolition of 10 Murray Street.
This is a difficult part of the project. The building sits within meters of the Salamanca Building (rear), the Parliament of Tasmania (left of screen) and busy Murray Street (foreground). Working from the top down, the building is cut into smaller pieces and demolished floor by floor. Waste will be moved down to the street level by the crane.
Also, the adjacent 12 Murray Street building (middle) is to be demolished. A steel frame supports the 1920’s stone facade. The facade is to be retained as a part of the Parliament Square hotel lobby design.
